Golden Retriever or Labrador Retriever?

Two sociable retrievers, with different coats and the same need for an active daily routine.

Large 24.9–34 kg

A sociable retriever that enjoys an active household. Expect regular exercise, daily training and dog hair on furniture.

Large 24.9–36.3 kg

An energetic, people-oriented retriever with an appetite for activity—and often food. A short coat makes grooming simpler, but does not mean little shedding.

The shared commitment

Both are substantial, active retrievers that usually enjoy working with people. Training, appropriate exercise and a plan for their enthusiasm matter more than choosing the one that looks calmer in a photograph. Meet adult dogs as well as puppies to understand their size and energy.

The coat changes the routine

The Golden’s longer coat brings feathering to brush and check after muddy walks. A Labrador has a shorter, dense coat, but that does not mean a hair-free home. Compare the coat-care tasks you are willing to do throughout the year, not only the appearance you prefer.

Questions that separate individuals

Ask about the parents’ relevant health screening, the line’s working background and how the dog settles after activity. A busy working-line dog may ask more of your routine than a broad breed description suggests. Compare the full profiles, then ask the same questions about the individual dog.
