Facts and sources
We use kennel-club standards and breed profiles for identity, registry relationships and physical ranges. Where standards describe a variety rather than a separate breed, we preserve that relationship. Typical ranges and editorial summaries are not a substitute for measuring or assessing an individual dog.
Trait scales
Traits use a five-point ordinal scale to support browsing. The distance between scores is not a measured biological difference. The scores summarize source descriptions or published source scales, and behaviour depends on development, environment, training and the individual. Unknown data remains unknown.
How the quiz works
The quiz compares your stated care capacity and preferences with available breed traits using fixed rules in your browser. It explains useful matches and significant care conflicts. Results cover the breeds currently published in this directory and do not establish that a particular dog will be safe with children, animals or time alone.
Writing and translation
We draft and check content against the cited material, then create saved translations and review them for terminology, meaning and consistency. Translations may still contain mistakes; we welcome specific corrections. Review dates indicate editorial checking, not a veterinary examination or a guarantee that every source is unchanged.
Commercial independence
Retailer and advertising modules are inactive at launch. Future affiliate links will be disclosed. A commission must not determine a breed’s trait scores, quiz position or health description. Equipment advice is researched guidance unless hands-on testing is documented.
