Medium 11.8–15.4 kg
An active, scent-interested spaniel whose attractive coat requires practical care. Working background and daily training interest matter when choosing the individual dog.
The Cavalier was developed as a companion spaniel; the English Cocker has a sporting background. English Cocker working and show lines can differ in activity and interests, so ask which line the dog comes from and what the adults do each day.
Feathering and ears deserve routine checks and gentle grooming. Ask a groomer to explain the work involved for the coat length you intend to maintain. Neither a small body nor an affectionate temperament removes the need for training and regular exercise.
For a Cavalier, discuss inherited health concerns and the parents’ screening in detail with a veterinarian and responsible breed source. Ask equally specific questions about an English Cocker’s relevant tests. Avoid choosing on the assumption that a companion breed is automatically an easier or healthier option.
